About the role

We build humanoid systems: full stack, from hardware and electronics to software and manufacturing, all in-house in Berlin. At Cell Labs, we push the boundary of what robotics can achieve. Our goal is clear: to build systems that empower humans, not replace them. Our technology is already deployed with industry leading customers and partners. Now, our own product is close to launch. The quiet phase is over. We are looking for people who want to be here early, take ownership, and help us build what others only talk about. Location: Berlin (on-site) Start: Asap Employment Type: Full-time Tasks • Mechanical Design & CAD: Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for humanoid systems, from actuators and kinematic mechanisms to sensor mounts and protective enclosures and model them in CAD (e.g. Onshape). • Actuator Kinematics: Design and optimize the kinematic structure of the robot's joints and limbs, including joint layouts, degrees of freedom, ranges of motion, and transmission mechanisms. Select and integrate actuators (motors, gearboxes, encoders) so that torque, speed, and load requirements are met across the full motion range. • Production Readiness: Optimize designs for series production with product requirements, user experience, and target cost in mind. Prepare the handover to manufacturing, including assembly processes, jigs and fixtures, and supplier ramp-up. • Prototyping & Testing: Prototype and validate mechanical systems for performance, safety, and durability. Design and build test rigs for actuators and subassemblies, including endurance and load testing. • Electronics Integration & Wiring: Integrate PCBs, sensors, and batteries into mechanical assemblies, including cable routing and heat management. Build and solder cables and wiring harnesses for prototypes and test setups. • Analysis & Materials: Run stress analysis and weight optimization to improve performance and longevity. Research, test, and qualify new materials and processes, such as composites and additive manufacturing. • Documentation & Specifications: Maintain complete design documentation, including drawings, part specifications, BOMs, and wiring diagrams, with full traceability throughout development. Requirements • Background: You studied mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, electrical engineering, or something close to it. • Experience: At least 3 years working on robotic systems, mobile machinery, or similar electromechanical products. What you built matters more to us than where you built it. • Mechanical Design: You've designed complex mechanical systems and understand robot kinematics, actuators, and how mechanical and electrical parts come together in a working robot. • Manufacturing: You know CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing, and you design with mid- and high-volume production in mind. You've worked with suppliers and brought hardware into production. • Hands-on: You like building things yourself. You solder cables, put together wiring harnesses, build test rigs, and track down problems on the bench. • Tools: You work confidently in Onshape and Autodesk Fusion, including its electronics design tools. • Product lifecycle: Ideally, you've taken at least one hardware product all the way from concept to series production. • How you work: You get a first prototype built quickly and improve from there. You can keep several projects moving at once and know when a design is good enough to move forward. • Languages: Fluent English. German is a plus. Benefits • Your work goes into a real robot: The joints, assemblies, and test rigs you design end up in humanoid robots we build ourselves. You take ownership of real subsystems and see them go from CAD to working hardwa
