Front-end Engineer 5 SEO - Shopping (Remote-eligible) Do you love building and pioneering in the technology space? Do you enjoy solving complex business problems in a fast-paced, collaborative, inclusive and iterative delivery environment? At Capital One, you'll be part of a big group of makers, breakers, doers and disruptors who solve real problems and meet real customer needs. We are seeking Front-end Software Engineers who are passionate about leveraging cutting-edge open source frameworks and emerging technologies. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of driving a major transformation across Capital One. What You’ll Do: • Increase the reach of Capital One Shopping via SEO, AEO, and GEO • Design and build high-performance, highly optimized front-end code and smart front-end architectures that serve as the basis for both an amazing user experience and improved visibility in search ranking • Partner with Software Engineers, Designers, and Product Managers to deliver high-performing, quality features for 100M+ customers that are engaging, purposeful and powerful in their simplicity • Architect, build, and maintain core components and shared libraries that act as a force multiplier for multiple teams within your product area • Contribute to standards for cross-platform consistency, scalability, and accessibility across front-end experiences • Serve as a subject matter expert in critical areas like SEO, web performance, networking, or design systems, influencing patterns and standards across teams • Partner with infrastructure and backend teams to define and improve CI/CD, observability, and reliability engineering practices, standardizing release practices • Define strategies for leveraging agentic AI tools across multiple teams, including specialized agents, skills and tools built on open standards (e.g., Model Context Protocol), to standardize workflows • Mentor and guide senior engineers in building AI-native workflows, shaping the next generation of technical leaders proficient in agentic coding • Apply mastery of the modern web ecosystem (including PWAs, Wasm, mobile web, and Service Workers) to make complex, high-leverage, hands-on technical contributions that solve the most challenging problems within your product area Basic Qualifications:  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering) • At least 6 years of professional experience in software engineering (internship experience does not apply) • At least 6 years of experience developing applications using TypeScript, HTML, CSS and modern web frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, Svelte) • At least 3 years of experience architecting or leading the development of federated front-end or design systems with cross-application adoption Preferred Qualifications: • 7+ years of experience with TypeScript and JavaScript • 7+ years of experience with modern web frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue, Svelte), HTML and CSS • Proven experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress, Playwright) and modular architecture • Adept at navigating the ever-shifting world of SEO - a deep understanding of how to improve search rankings • Experience leading the design of multi-team components or contributing to shared design systems • Expertise in release health indicators, metrics-driven canary release, and feature flag strategies • Expertise with agentic AI coding tools and developer productivity patterns • Exposure to micro-frontend patterns and practices, along with an understanding of where they add value vs increase overhead Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.
