A Day in the Life The Equipment Development Engineering function develops manufacturing equipment, automation, and software solutions that enable safe, reliable, and scalable production. Based onsite in Lausanne, Vaud, Switzerland, the team partners across Research & Development, Operations, Quality and Global Engineering to support new products, technology platforms, capacity growth, and manufacturing excellence. The Equipment Development Engineering Manager leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for equipment development, manufacturing automation, and software engineering. Bridging Research & Development and Operations, this leader ensures robust, cost-effective manufacturing solutions from early concepts through high-volume production and directly advances automation, product transfers, technology development, and new product introductions. The Equipment Development Engineering Manager leads a multidisciplinary Engineering teams responsible for equipment development, automation and software engineering. This leader plays a critical role in bridging R&D and Operations, ensuring robust, scalable, and cost-effective manufacturing solutions from early concepts to high volume production. The role contributes directly to strategic initiatives including automation, manufacturing excellence, product transfers, technology development, and new product introductions. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team across multiple technical disciplines, define organizational priorities aligned with site and global strategies, while also driving employee engagement, capability development, succession planning, and talent growth. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, and execute the Equipment Development Engineering roadmap supporting equipment development, manufacturing automation and software engineering Partner with R&D, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Global Engineering functions to accelerate product launches and manufacturing readiness. Lead development and deployment of advanced manufacturing equipment and automation solutions, support the site's automation roadmap, including labor efficiency, quality improvement, and programmatic savings initiatives, while also ensuring robust equipment design, qualification, validation, and transfer to manufacturing. Drive development of manufacturing processes for new products and technology platforms, provide technical leadership for industrialization strategies and manufacturing transfers, support execution of strategic programs and new product introduction projects. Drive performance through quality, delivery, cost and innovation metrics, while also establishing strong governance and execution rigor for engineering projects. Champion continuous improvement and best practice standardization. Required Qualifications Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related field). Minimum 10 years of engineering experience in medical devices or high volumes industries (Microelectronic, Automative, Pharma). Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience.
