About the role
Medical Economics Lead Analyst Position Summary The International Health Medical Economics team is seeking a Medical Economics Lead Analyst to help identify the drivers of medical cost and utilization trends and convert data into actions that improve affordability and health outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to work with large-scale healthcare claims and eligibility datasets across international markets while partnering with Network, Clinical, and Fraud, Waste & Abuse teams to influence key business decisions. The successful candidate will combine healthcare claims expertise, advanced analytics, and data visualization to identify savings opportunities, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and develop scalable analytical solutions that drive measurable business impact. Responsibilities • Investigate drivers of medical trend across utilization, unit cost, provider mix, disease burden, and benefit design. • Perform root-cause analysis to distinguish between pricing, utilization, and population health impacts on medical cost trends. • Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented Network, Clinical, and FWA interventions and quantify realized impact. • Develop repeatable analytical frameworks that improve the speed and consistency of opportunity identification. • Present findings and recommendations to senior business stakeholders in a concise and action-oriented format. • Design and develop self-service Qlik Sense dashboards that enable stakeholders to quickly identify opportunities and trends • Quantify the financial impact of new and existing savings initiatives to support annual planning process • Contribute to the development of new analytical approaches, tools, and methodologies Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Statistics, Actuarial or equivalent) • 7+ years of experience in health insurance analytics • Strong understanding of healthcare claims data, including diagnosis, procedure, provider, place-of-service, utilization, pricing, and member-level information. • Proficiency in SQL, data manipulation tools and data visualization platforms (Qlik Sense preferred) • Excellent analytical, stakeholder management and presentation skills required About The Cigna Group Cigna Healthcare, a division of The Cigna Group, is an advocate for better health through every stage of life.
