This position will be located at our Defense Systems Sector in Elkton, MD, as part of our Propulsion Systems and Controls Business Unit. Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Experience panoramic views from Turkey Point Lighthouse on a bluff overlooking the Bay, or from the banks of the C&D Canal where ships from around the globe cruise. https://www.ccgov.org/government/tourism Roles/Responsibilities: Roles and Responsibilities: • Support analysis and design of Energetics and SRM production operations using IE tools (VSM, line balancing, capacity/utilization, process mapping, standard work). • Help develop and maintain methods, standards, and manpower plans (skill matrices, staffing, recovery schedules) to optimize use of facilities, equipment, and personnel. • Gather, analyze, and present data on cost, labor, scrap/rework, inventory/WIP, quality, and material flow; prepare charts and concise recommendations. • Evaluate and improve material handling and point-of-use logistics to simplify flow, reduce WIP, and improve on-time delivery and rate. • Actively participate in continuous improvement and lean activities (Kaizen/AIW, 5S/POU, standard work, RCCA, 5 Why, Pareto) and track/report key operational metrics. • Build and maintain data visualizations and “visual factory” tools (Excel, CORE, Tableau, MES dashboards) to support data-driven decision making and capacity/utilization modeling. • Assist with facility layout and operating method changes, ensuring safety requirements, visual controls, and accident-prevention considerations are built into standard work. • Collaborate across functions, support training and documentation, and build systems awareness (MES, ERP, scheduling, data collection) while developing toward larger CI and capacity-planning responsibilities.
