About the role
The Cutter Operator is responsible for operating equipment that produces body ply, breaker, chafer, and slit gum components for commercial tire manufacturing operations. This position ensures product quality, maintains material inventory, troubleshoots equipment issues, follows safety and operating procedures, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT • Operate cutter equipment according to production schedules and SAP work orders. • Monitor machine performance and respond to equipment downtime or abnormal conditions, notifying supervision as needed. • Read, interpret, and react to machine setup specifications and production requirements. • Verify that all required materials and supplies are available before production begins. • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) to ensure quality and production targets are met. • Accurately record production time, quantities, and operational data in required systems. • Use online and offline quality monitoring systems to ensure components meet established specifications. • Read product specifications and use measuring devices, gauges, and hand tools to verify product quality. • Maintain proper scrap reporting using the SBS system and assign the correct reason codes. • Utilize manufacturing systems, including CGMS, EWM, and SBS, to support workflow, inventory, and quality requirements. • Maintain adequate component inventory and proper stock levels. • Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely and responsibly. • Ensure proper care and maintenance of material-handling equipment. • Follow all plant, departmental, environmental, and safety policies. • Comply with Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) procedures and work instructions. • Immediately report unsafe conditions, environmental hazards, or incidents and assist in implementing preventive measures. • Demonstrate safe work practices and encourage a strong safety culture. • Maintain 5S standards by keeping work areas clean, organized, and orderly. • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues using effective problem-solving techniques. • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, support personnel, suppliers, and internal customers. • Read and understand written and verbal instructions related to quality standards, specifications, procedures, and tolerances. • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE • High School Diploma or GED. • Successful completion of the WorkKeys Assessment (Silver level). • Ability to lead, support, and foster teamwork in a production environment. • Ability to read and understand specifications and follow written and verbal instructions. • Basic computer skills with the ability to learn and utilize manufacturing systems. • Ability to work independently with limited supervision. • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
