About the role
Title: Assoicate Director, Logistics spend & strategy Location: Warsaw Model: hybrid 3+2 The Clinical Manufacturing and Supply (CM&S) function is accountable for the supply of medicines to support AstraZeneca’s clinical trials. This includes planning, drug substance manufacture, drug product manufacture, packaging, labelling and distribution to depots / clinical investigator sites. The Clinical Logistics team within CM&S has the accountability to ensure the distribution and logistics requirements of our supply chains are being met. Reporting to the Senior Director Clinical Logistics and part of the Clinical Logistics team, the role is part of the Spend & Strategy sub-team, managing the CM&S Logistics budget and spend. Delivering operational, tactical and strategic activities and improvements relating to that area. Job Responsibilities: • Support the Senior Director, Clinical Logistics – Spend & Strategy to: • Ensure the Logistics ‘Cost to Serve’ model provides the budgeting and spend accuracy and efficiency that the clinical programmes and projects require. • Maintain network-wide spend visibility capabilities. • Execute spend auditing and billing accuracy capabilities. • Management of vendors to ensure agreed service levels and key performance Indicators are delivered. • Liaise with finance and budget holders to ensure financial compliance. • Identification and execution of Import VAT, duty and logistics spend optimisation opportunities. • Define and maintain SOPs/work instructions and business processes, aligned with the CM&S Logistics Business Process Owner’s (BPO) objectives. • Drive data and digital maturity to improve processes. • Set data standards, ensure master/reference data quality, and drive data-driven visibility (dashboards/analytics) to support decisions and continuous improvement. • Maintain financial compliance, documentation accuracy; ensure audit readiness and effective CAPA. Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience E ssential • Degree in Supply Chain / logistics or other relevant business discipline • A minimum of 6 years prior experience within a supply chain/logistics environment. • Working knowledge of the logistics industry and the various government agencies and regulations involved with the distribution of products. • Experience of managing large and complex logistics budgets. • Appropriate business and financial acumen. • Advanced Digital, AI and data literacy. • Experience of delivering significant improvement projects and strategy changes. • Experience of delivering significant improvement projects and strategy changes. • Excellent analytical skills. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team player, with the ability to identify and communicate key issues for resolution. • Ability to effectively interact with all levels within functional areas, customers, outside service providers and with external regulatory authorities. • Ability to evaluate/manage relationships with outside service partners. • Fluent English ability. Desirable • Experience with lean tools and methodologies. • Familiarity of the pharmaceutical/clinical supply chain environment.
