About the role
Location: (Laird) HWY 403 & Dundas St W, Mississauga. S'more about the team We are seeking an Executive Chef to serve as the ultimate culinary authority and Voice of the Customer for our Factor brand (factormeals.ca), a healthy, ready-to-heat meal delivery service. This is a highly strategic role where your primary focus will be on setting culinary standards while partnering with operations leadership (who maintain ownership of daily shift execution, headcount scheduling, and direct supervision). Reporting to the Site Director, you will balance food and people safety with culinary quality in a large industrial kitchen setting, operating with a high degree of collaboration across multiple departments to elevate the culinary experience. Lettuce share what this role will be responsible for: • Act as the customer's advocate inside the production facility, reviewing NPS data, customer feedback, and product returns to translate insights into actionable culinary improvements. • Define, document, and own food quality standards across all SKUs, establishing Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) benchmarks, SOPs, and sensory evaluation protocols. • Conduct regular recipe verification checks on the floor to confirm execution to spec, identify recipe drift, and partner with Executive Sous Chefs to roll out corrective updates. • Partner with the Commercialization team on recipe scale-up, kitchen trials, and the stabilization of new products into high-volume production. • Proactively identify opportunities to improve product quality, reduce waste, and enhance the customer eating experience in partnership with the Continuous Improvement (CI) team. • Ensuring standards, checks, and methods are clearly documented, trained, and consistently applied across shifts. • Provide technical guidance and standards enforcement to Executive Sous Chefs and Sous Chefs to elevate culinary precision, compliance, and quality control. • Provide strategic culinary input into equipment investments, capacity planning, and process-design decisions. • Carefully manage our relationships with any co-manufacturers, ensuring a high level of collaboration with their culinary staff and leadership. • Ensure the kitchen operates alongside provincial and federal health and safety codes, and work in compliance with OH&S acts and regulations. • Other duties as assigned. Here's what we're looking for: • 5+ years’ experience in a large industrial or commissary kitchen and high-volume food preparation. • A Subject Matter Expert (SME) on food quality with a process-driven mentality; you track inputs and outputs diligently and rely on data to measure performance and dictate priorities. • Proven ability to influence without authority, lead via dotted-line reporting, and collaborate strongly across cross-functional teams. • Comfortable with regularly scheduled travel to our Calgary distribution centre and/or supplier sites. • DNA Values aligned with our culture: operating in an egoless environment, highly customer-centric, data-driven, and focused on Long-Term Outcomes (LTO). • Outstanding communication skills and high EQ; you adjust your communication style to different audiences, relay information effectively, and speak to employees with tact and diplomacy. • Comfortable with being exposed to hot, cool, and cold environments (0-30ºC) and spending long periods on your feet. • Chef de Cuisine Certification (CCC) preferred.
