About the role

The MSL serves as the local medical voice of A straZeneca in the disease area of interest, and build s a local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes in their territory. The MSL or equivalent experience is a field-based professional with strong expertise in scientific, clinical, and therapeutic areas. They support AstraZeneca's oncology marketed products, new indications, and compounds in development. • Act as the local medical leader responsible for developing a tailored strategy to meet the AZ USMA priorities in the disease area, as well as the local specificities and patient needs. • Develop strong working relationships in different external business settings ( e.g. academia, hospitals, managed markets, private practices ) • Lead s cientific e xchanges with o ncologists , urologists and key members of the MDT • Lead p eer to p eer scientific/medical interactions • Gather insights on the treatment landscape, evolving healthcare environment and practice, barrier to optimal treatment and patient care or opportunities to improve outcomes of patients with cancer • Communicate internally insights, findings, and propose actions to improve patient care and outcomes • Discuss with KOLs data and educational gaps to ensure adequate use of our medicines and to inform our R&D strategy to address patient needs • Summarize appropriate clinical data into accurate and balance d information and clearly and concisely convey the most relevant information • Stay current with scientific knowledge ( e.g. marketed and emerging products, competitors’ activities, key healthcare trends, anatomy & physiology; pathophysiology in relevant disease states, and current therapeutic interventions related to disease state s • A ttend relevant scientific meetings and conferences • Collaborate with Clin ops on Ph3 trials from feasibility to execution of trials • Discuss and follow-up on ESR s Essential Requirements: • Advanced scientific degree or equivalent experience required (i.e. Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical field • 2 + years of MSL experience or relevant therapeutic area experience • Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences • Ability to e xpress ideas clearly in written documentation, one-on-one conversations and in small group dialogues • Ability to work independently and in groups • Ability to navigate within a matrixial environment • Strong understanding of clinical study design and protocols • Basic understanding of the Healthcare system, clinical trial methodology , statistics and regulatory environment • Excellent project management ability • Ability to travel (40-60% by car and plane domestic) Desireable: • Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline Territory includes: MN, IA, NE, ND & SD Why AstraZeneca?
