Because we serve a large and growing base of newly incorporated limited companies on fixed fees, this is a high-volume role. You'll be one of the team's technical reviewers, checking and signing off compliance work prepared by team members, including our offshore production team, and managing your own workload independently against statutory deadlines. You'll come from an accountancy practice and be comfortable working across a large client base at pace, prioritising by deadline and risk, and keeping a commercial eye on the time spent against a fixed fee. Your expertise will help shape how we deliver accountancy services as we scale, with real scope to progress as the team grows. Key Responsibilities • Review and sign off work prepared by team members before submission, including PAYE and VAT registrations, payroll and RTI submissions, VAT returns and CIS returns • Review year-end statutory accounts prepared under FRS 105, FRS 102 Section 1A and FRS 102, together with the related corporation tax returns • Review Self Assessment tax returns for company directors • Prepare more complex or non-standard accounts and returns yourself where needed • Manage your own review queue independently, prioritising by statutory deadline and risk across a high volume of clients • Give clear, constructive feedback to preparers, helping to raise first-time quality across the team • Review bookkeeping and bank reconciliations in Xero, making sure client records are accurate, complete and up to date • Handle technical client queries, escalating complex or high-risk matters to the Accounting Manager • Spot work that falls outside a client's fixed-fee plan and flag it so it can be scoped and billed • Support clients with their Making Tax Digital requirements • Help develop internal guidance, review checklists and templates to support consistent, high-quality delivery • Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools and client education What We Are Looking For • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with some post-qualification experience • Practice background, with solid experience of compliance work for small and owner-managed limited companies • Experience of reviewing other people's work, or ready to step up into a reviewing role • Strong technical knowledge of FRS 105, FRS 102 Section 1A and FRS 102, with a sound working knowledge of corporation tax, VAT, PAYE, CIS and personal tax as they apply to smal
