US H-1B: cap-subject employers enter a lottery weighted by wage level — Level I gets 1 entry, Level IV gets 4 (DHS projected selection odds ≈15% at Level I to ≈61% at Level IV). Universities and non-profit research employers are cap-exempt. The $100,000 fee for new petitions from abroad is currently blocked by a court order (appeal pending).

Project phase – owner's engineer for Maintenance • Represent Maintenance in every phase of new equipment projects (starting with the MRS1 cross-belt sorter), from design reviews to FAT, SAT, commissioning and ramp-up. For the sorter, whose design is already set, take over the installed system and optimise it after go-live. • Work side by side with the OEM / integrator engineers: collect technical knowledge, challenge design choices, maintainability, access, spare-part strategy and the proposed maintenance plan before they are frozen. • Define and verify the Maintenance acceptance criteria (documentation, training, spare parts, safety, availability targets). The Maintenance sign-off is mandatory: no handover to operations without it. • Track and drive to closure the technical punch list and warranty issues raised during commissioning and the warranty period. 2. Technical file & spare parts • Build and own the equipment technical file: as-built electrical and mechanical drawings, PLC and software versions, parameter backups, network architecture, safety documentation, OEM manuals. • Create the asset hierarchy and criticality analysis in the CMMS. • Define the critical spare-parts list (references, min/max stock, lead times) and keep it up to date. • Reduce dependency on the OEM: identify and qualify second-source suppliers for critical parts, run compatibility tests and document equivalences. • Propose spare-parts and supplier decisions to the Maintenance Manager; after an initial period, take these decisions autonomously within agreed limits, with the Maintenance Manager's validation. 3. Maintenance strategy & procedures • Write and maintain preventive maintenance plans, corrective procedures and troubleshooting guides for the equipment family, based on OEM data, FMEA and field experience. • Monitor equipment performance (availability, MTBF, MTTR, top failure modes), lead root-cause analysis on recurring or major failures and implement permanent corrective actions. • Challenge the original design when needed and drive engineering changes: retrofits, drive and firmware updates, software or parameter optimisation, with the OEM and internal stakeholders. 4. Training & technical support • Train the operational maintenance team (technicians and operatives) on the equipment, it
