Job Description: Software Engineer II - Network Test Engineer Location (Hybrid): Sunnyvale, CA HPE Networking is a leader in AI-driven, next-generation networking solutions that power modern data centers, cloud, campus, branch, and service provider networks. Our engineers build the software that enables intelligent, secure, and highly reliable networking infrastructure used by customers around the world. We are seeking a Software Test Engineer to join our Networking & IP Services team. In this role, you will work closely with Product Management, Software Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams to validate next-generation networking platforms and software. You will develop test strategies, automate complex networking test scenarios, troubleshoot software and hardware issues, and help deliver high-quality networking products. What You'll Do • Collaborate with Product Management, Software Engineering, and Hardware teams to review product requirements and technical designs. • Develop comprehensive functional, system, and regression test plans for networking software and platforms. • Execute manual and automated test cases to validate functionality, scalability, reliability, and performance. • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using Python • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to improve product quality and release efficiency. • Identify, reproduce, troubleshoot, and document software and hardware defects. • Partner with development teams to isolate root causes and verify fixes. • Validate Layer 2/Layer 3 networking features, routing protocols, and network services. • Perform hardware qualification and validation testing for new networking platforms. • Contribute to continuous improvements in testing processes, automation, and product quality. Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of software testing experience, or Master's degree with 1+ year of relevant experience. • Experience developing and executing software test plans and test cases. • Hands-on experience with Python for test automation. • Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in several of the following areas is highly desirable: • 2+ years of software testing experience in networking, IP services, or network operating systems. • Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies, including: • Ethernet • VLANs • Quality of Service (QoS) •
