US H-1B: cap-subject employers enter a lottery weighted by wage level — Level I gets 1 entry, Level IV gets 4 (DHS projected selection odds ≈15% at Level I to ≈61% at Level IV). Universities and non-profit research employers are cap-exempt. The $100,000 fee for new petitions from abroad is currently blocked by a court order (appeal pending).

About the role
Retail Technology Systems Engineer Sweetgreen is on a mission to build healthy communities by connecting people to real food. We passionately believe that real food should be convenient and accessible to everyone. Every day in each sweetgreen, our 5,000 team members make food from scratch, using fresh ingredients and produce delivered that morning. And in our local communities, we’re committed to leaving people better than we found them. We’re in the business of feeding people, and we’re out to change what that means. Our teams are our most valuable ingredient - the heart of our company, the face of our brand, and what truly makes the sweetgreen experience special and unique. The Retail Technology Systems Engineer sits on the Retail Technology team and owns the configuration, stability, and security of the technology running in every sweetgreen restaurant, from POS and payments to kitchen displays, connected kitchen equipment, and Infinite Kitchen locations. This role delivers new capabilities through successful go-lives, serves as the technical escalation point for restaurant support teams, and contributes to the future state roadmap for our restaurant fleet. You will: • Implement, upgrade, and support restaurant technology across the fleet, including PAR Brink POS, PAR Payment Services card readers, KDS, and connected kitchen equipment, for existing restaurants and new restaurant openings. • Build and maintain standardized device images and configurations in Microsoft Intune for POS, kiosk, BOH, KDS, iPad, and time clock endpoints, and release patches, enhancements, and fixes across restaurants. • Build integrations and automations between restaurant applications using REST APIs, Workato, PowerShell, and Python, with a focus on reducing repetitive operational work. • Monitor restaurant system health, resolve incidents, identify recurring patterns, and serve as the escalation point for Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams. • Partner with Software Engineering, Security, Networking, Operations, Marketing, Digital, and vendor partners to evaluate new hardware and capabilities, manage vendor escalations, and ready the team for new product launches. • Keep restaurant systems secure and PCI-compliant, and maintain clear documentation, runbooks, and SOPs for support teams and fellow engineers. Desired traits: • You get energized by new technology and know how to apply it to real restaurant operations. • You solve problems analytically and make sound decisions under pressure. • You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences. • You build strong relationships across internal teams and with outside vendors. • You stay organized and deliver reliably as priorities shift. • You keep up with industry trends and bring new ideas to the team. • You understand how technology shapes the experience of our team members and customers. Desired experience: • 5+ years of restaurant or retail technology experience, ideally supporting a multi-unit restaurant fleet across in-restaurant, digital, and third-party marketplace orders. • 3+ years of hands-on device and endpoint management (Microsoft Intune preferred), including configuration, software deployment, and security patching. • Experience administering a restaurant POS platform (PAR Brink preferred; Oracle Simphony, Toast, or similar also relevant), plus working knowledge of payment terminals, KDS, printers, mobile devices, and networking equipment. • Scripting experience in PowerShell or Python and comfort with REST APIs and integration tools such as Postman and Workato; exposure to .NET/C# is a plus. • Experience with Datadog, ServiceNow, and incident and on-call workflows, along with working knowledge of PCI security standards. • Experience with Cisco Merak
