About the role
Our Mission You call. You wait. You call again. In every other part of your life, you book in seconds. In healthcare, you’re blocked. We’re here to give power to the patient. For nearly 20 years, we’ve built the leading healthcare marketplace - helping tens of millions of people find and book the care they need. Now, we’re going further: building our infrastructure beyond Zocdoc’s marketplace to power access to care wherever patients search, from provider websites and insurance directories to search engines, AI platforms, and more. Healthcare still lacks something every other major consumer industry takes for granted: a seamless way to go from seeking to getting . We don’t want to own the front door to care; there isn't one. We want to make sure all of those doors open when patients are knocking. Fixing healthcare starts with fixing access to it. And we're still just getting started. Your Impact on our Mission: Zocdoc is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to make our distributed production systems more observable, reliable, and safe to change. Our platform connects patients, providers, and many interconnected services and integrations, so reliability depends on understanding the full path of a request—not just whether an individual service is running. You’ll help build the observability foundations, automation, and engineering practices that allow Zocdoc to move quickly without sacrificing safety. You’ll work across cloud infrastructure, microservices, APIs, and integration points in AWS, partnering closely with product engineering teams to identify risks, improve operational visibility, and make the right behavior easier to build and operate. You’ll enjoy this role if you are… • Passionate about observability and believe that teams can’t reliably operate what they can’t see • Experienced in integration-rich environments where APIs, third-party dependencies, asynchronous workflows, and distributed services create complex failure modes • Excited by the challenge of helping a fast-moving engineering organization ship quickly while keeping systems safe, diagnosable, and resilient • Motivated to turn operational knowledge into reusable platforms, automation, telemetry standards, and paved paths for engineering teams • Comfortable leading or supporting incident response, communicating clearly under pressure, and using blameless post-mortems to drive meaningful improvements • Curious about how systems behave in production and willing to investigate across application code, infrastructure, networking, and external dependencies • Collaborative, pragmatic, and able to build trust with engineers across numerous product development teams • Autonomous, individually accountable, and always looking for ways to reduce toil and improve the developer and operator experience Your day to day is… • Designing, building, and operating observability for distributed services and integrations, including metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerts, service-level indicators, and service-level objectives • Improving end-to-end visibility across critical patient and provider workflows, including identifying gaps in instrumentation and making dependency health and integration failures easier to understand • Creating reliable, repeatable tooling and infrastructure through infrastructure as code, automation, CI/CD, and self-service patterns • Partnering with product engineering teams on reliability, scaling, performance, capacity, and failure-mode analysis for services and integrations • Helping teams establish actionable alerts and operational ownership so that on-call signals are timely, meaningful, and connected to a clear response path • Participating in the on-call rotation and incident response process, including serving a
