About the role
Job Title AI / Algorithm Engineer – Vascular Imaging (Bedford, MA) Job Description AI / Algorithm Engineer – Vascular Imaging (Bedford, MA) Join Philips to bring advanced vascular imaging algorithms from validated prototypes into medical products that clinicians rely on every day. You will be part of a talented, cross-functional team of engineers and scientists who take algorithms from ideation and prototyping, through data annotation and model development, to verification, validation, and regulatory submission in a regulated medical device environment. Your early focus will be on productizing, optimizing, and deploying existing deep learning pipelines for X-ray coronary angiography, with growing ownership of new algorithm development across angiography, intravascular imaging (OCT/IVUS), and other cardiovascular modalities. Your role: • Port, optimize, and deploy existing deep learning pipelines across hardware platforms, improving memory use, throughput, and latency. • Convert and integrate models across frameworks and runtimes (e.g., ONNX), working with software and systems engineers to deliver robust, maintainable product code. • Build automated tests and benchmarks demonstrating that ported algorithms reproduce reference results, and document them as verification evidence. • Develop new algorithms for X-ray angiography, intravascular OCT/IVUS, and other cardiovascular imaging, from ideation and prototyping with clinical partners through product-ready implementation. • Drive data sourcing, curation, and annotation, and evaluate model performance with rigorous statistical methods. • Contribute to verification, validation, risk management, and regulatory submissions for AI-enabled medical devices. You’re the right fit if: • You have at least 2 years of post-graduation professional experience in algorithms, machine learning, or software development, ideally within a regulated medical device environment. You will contribute as an individual contributor focused on developing and deploying advanced imaging and AI solutions. • You bring strong Python and TensorFlow skills, including model training, export, and inference, along with experience optimizing deep learning inference on GPU and/or CPU using profiling, memory management, and batching. You also have disciplined software engineering practices such as automated testing, version control, and CI/CD, with bonus experience in ONNX, PyTorch, C/C++, CUDA, cardiovascular imaging, medical-image annotation workflows, and generative AI or LLM-based development tools. • You have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. A Master’s degree or PhD is a plus. • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position. You will apply these capabilities while performing the essential responsibilities of the role. • You have a solid foundation in image processing and deep learning for computer vision and can apply these skills to practical development and analysis. You can also leverage modern generative AI tools, such as coding assistants and LLMs, for development, documentation, and analysis. • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position .
