Role Summary
AT&T Corporate Communications is looking for a newsroom-minded editor to help manage the high volume of external news and storytelling the team puts into the world every day. You’ll sit at the center of the corporate newsroom, keeping a pulse on what’s coming, what matters most and where the team should focus its attention.
This role is part editor, part newsroom operator and part connector. You’ll build relationships across Corporate Communications to surface priorities early, connect stories across teams and turn a constant flow of news, ideas and opportunities into a focused editorial agenda.
The right person brings editorial judgment and operational muscle. You love making complex things simpler and can bring structure to a fast-moving environment without slowing people down. You know the difference between what’s important and what’s simply urgent. When priorities change, you can quickly reset the plan and keep everyone moving.
You’ll report to AT&T’s Editor-in-Chief and work across Corporate Communications and with channel and production partners to build a newsroom that is more connected, coordinated and agile.
What You’ll Do
Own the Newsroom View
• Maintain a clear view of the stories, announcements and opportunities coming from across Corporate Communications and the larger enterprise.
• Build strong relationships across teams to surface priorities early and stay close to what’s coming next.
• Identify where stories overlap, compete for attention, or could become stronger together.
• Help determine what deserves attention now, what can wait and what may not need to move forward.
• Keep the editorial agenda current as news, business priorities, and timelines change.
Move Stories Forward
• Guide priority stories from idea through development, review, approval and external publication.
• Create clarity around owners, decisions, deadlines, dependencies and next steps.
• Anticipate roadblocks and bring the right people together to solve them.
• Coordinate across owned channels and production partners to give priority stories a clear path to the right audiences.
• Bring calm, focus and forward momentum when everything feels “urgent.”
Raise the Bar
• Partner with the Editor-in-Chief to raise the editorial bar across Corporate Communications, serving as a subject matter expert on editorial standards and helping teams produce sharper, more distinctive owned storytelling.
• Create simple, scalable ways of working that remove friction and help a large communications organization move faster.
• Build newsroom tools and processes people want to use because they make the work easier.
• Create enough structure to keep the newsroom coordinated without sacrificing the flexibility an always-on news operation requires.
• Use audience insights, performance data, and new technology, including AI, to make editorial planning and newsroom operations smarter.
What You’ll Bring
• Experience working in a fast-moving editorial, communications, publishing or newsroom environment.
• A strong editorial eye and the ability to help others make good stories sharper, clearer and more compelling.
• Sound editorial judgment and an instinct for distinguishing what objectively matters among competing priorities.
• Exceptional organizational and project leadership skills, with the ability to manage a high volume of work and shifting priorities.
• A natural connector who builds strong relationships, influences across teams and provides clear, tactful feedback that makes the work better.
• A track record of bringing clarity and structure to complex wo
