About the role

The Ultimate Hybrid Role (or Your Ideal 20-Hour Challenge!)   Why This Role Is Rare, and Fantastic (Our USP) Most software teams hire a QA Engineer and a Technical Writer separately. But let’s be honest: the best ideas for crystal-clear documentation come when you're turning software inside out to find bugs. And the best test scenarios are architected by someone with an author's eye for structure and language. At VONQ, we believe these two worlds make each other stronger. As our Technical Writer / QA Engineer, you become our ultimate ‘Quality & Clarity Champion’. You won't just build a rock-solid foundation of software quality, you’ll translate the magic under the hood into intuitive, crystal-clear guides for developers, partners, and clients. It’s a unique double role where your analytical side meets your creative drive, giving you maximum impact across the entire product lifecycle.   Prefer to focus purely on one side of the coin? If you see yourself purely as a QA Strategist or a seasoned Technical Writer, but you're looking for a part-time role, this position can also be filled by two specialists (each up to 50% / 20 hours per week) working closely together to set the ultimate standard for quality and documentation.   Your Mission As our Technical Writer / QA Engineer in Groningen, you will take full ownership of software quality and technical documentation across our platform. You will act as the crucial bridge between Engineering, Product Design, and our end-users. By defining testing strategies, driving test automation, and architecting top-tier technical documentation, you will elevate our engineering standards and empower developers, partners, and clients to scale confidently with VONQ’s cutting-edge recruitment technology.   What You Will Do Build Quality (QA): • Lead the design, execution, and continuous evolution of comprehensive QA strategies and test plans for our platform. • Drive our test automation efforts, identifying areas for automated coverage and building robust testing frameworks alongside the engineering team. • Act as the ultimate gatekeeper for quality, actively hunting down edge cases, spotting usability issues, and driving bug resolutions before they ever impact the user. Create Clarity (Technical Writing): • Take complete ownership of our technical documentation architecture, setting the gold standard for API references, integration guides, release notes, and system specs. • Partner directly with product and engineering leadership to translate complex system architectures and upcoming features into accessible, high-quality content. • Continuously refine internal knowledge bases and serve as the fiercest advocate for the end-user experience throughout every phase of the product lifecycle.   What We Look For: • Experience: 5+ years of experience in QA engineering, technical writing, or a blended technical role within a fast-paced SaaS or tech environment. • Autonomy: A high level of independence with a proven ability to drive projects from conception to completion without needing daily oversight. • Language Skills: Native Dutch speaker with professional fluency in English, confident in articulating complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • QA & API Tooling: Hands-on experience with web application testing, API testing tools (e.g., Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI), and bug-tracking platforms. • Automation & CI/CD: Solid experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium) and a strong understanding of how testing integrates into CI/CD pipelines. • Doc Platforms & Version Control: Proficiency with documentation platforms, version control systems, and markup languages (e.g., Markdown, Git, Confluence). • Mindset: A strategic
