About the role

Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way. The Community You Will Join: The AirCover Insurance Platform team builds the systems behind AirCover, which includes Host liability insurance, Experiences liability insurance and Host damage protection. A Typical Day: • Design, build and operate distributed backend services in a service-oriented architecture, with reliable monitoring, logging and alerting. • Write and review code and technical designs, and apply sound engineering judgment within your scope. • Build data pipelines and events that support analytics and experiments. • Collaborate with infrastructure, security and privacy teams to meet high standards for data protection across regions. • Take part in on-call rotations and help improve system reliability. Your Expertise: • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on backend services. • Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Kotlin, Python or Go. • Experience building and operating services and APIs, with working knowledge of relational databases and SQL. • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
