- No salary bar for this route
- Canada has no single salary bar: the employer usually needs a positive LMIA. Pay at or above the provincial median wage + 20% (e.g. C$36.92/h in Ontario) puts it in the high-wage stream. Source: https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/foreign-workers/median-wage.html, rules effective 2026-07-17.
Canada: Express Entry no longer awards ranking points for job offers (since 25 Mar 2025); a job offer still counts toward Federal Skilled Worker eligibility.

About the role
We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our growing AI organization in Vancouver. Asana is pioneering a new category of technology as the human-agent operating system, doubling down on our AI Suite to turn manual work into scalable, intelligent systems. We are hiring software engineers across several of our core AI teams, ranging from the platform foundations and runtime infrastructure powering autonomous agents, to the trust, evaluation, and observability systems that ensure safety and governance, to the high-impact product surfaces enabling users to build and run AI-orchestrated workflows. Because we are hiring for multiple teams, you will interview through a centralized interview process, and we will undergo a team matching process at the end.
This role is based in our Vancouver office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.
What you’ll achieve
• Own the end-to-end implementation of small-to-medium features and services that power intelligent collaboration and agentic automation across Asana.
• Write clean, modular, and well-tested code across our stack while evaluating trade-offs between latency, cost, and reliability when integrating modern foundation models, prompt pipelines, and workflow orchestration logic.
• Proactively maintain and improve Areas of Responsibility (AoRs), monitor production pipelines, participate in team on-call rotations, and diagnose complex bugs across asynchronous or distributed systems.
• Break down feature specifications into clear engineering milestones, provide accurate technical estimates, and reliably execute to advance the adoption of the AI Suite.
• Elevate code quality, advocate for test coverage and technical debt remediation, and conduct thoughtful and rigorous code reviews for your peers.
About you
• Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.
• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production code in modern distributed architectures, web services, or data-intensive systems.
• Strong command of software design fundamentals, testing practices, and data structures, paired with experience or curiosity in working with LLMs, prompt pipelines, vector databases, or agentic frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to take a technical specification, evaluate trade-offs, seek feedback on risky or complex changes early, and ship to production with minimal oversight.
• High bar for code health, writing well-structured, maintainable, and self-documenting code with comprehensive test plans and logical PR breakdowns.
• Experience collaborating closely with Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists, and fellow engineers while communicating progress clearly and surfacing blockers early.
At Asana, we're committed to building teams that include a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as this is critical to helping us achieve our mission. If you're interested in this role and don't meet every listed requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
What we’ll offer
Our comprehensive compensation package plays a big part in how we recognize you for the impact you have on our path to achieving our mission. We believe that compensation should be reflective of the value you create relative to the market value of your role.
