About the role
Toast creates technology to help restaurants and local businesses succeed in a digital world, helping business owners operate, increase sales, engage customers, and keep employees happy.
We create technology to help businesses grow and succeed. Our Marketing Operations team is looking for a technically sharp, operationally minded Manager to own the infrastructure behind our paid media program — from pixel to pipeline, feed to finance. This role is the engine behind our buying team, ensuring every campaign we run is accurately tracked and our media buyers can focus on performance rather than data.
A day in the life (Responsibilities)
• Own the full signal path for Paid: serve as the single technical owner across Tracking/Pixels, Program/Campaign, Audience/Conversions API, and Control Tower - partnering with Paid on requirements once and carrying them across every team, rather than Paid routing to individuals separately
• Tag & pixel infrastructure: own event tracking, conversion signals, and audience data flows across ad platforms (Meta, Google, TikTok, Bing, ChatGPT, etc.) via offline conversion tracking and server-side tagging
• Marketing automation: manage and optimize Marketo paid program setup, scoring, audience segmentation, and integration with ad platforms
• Data operations: manage CRM audience syncs and data pipelines between source systems and ad platforms using ETL systems
• UTM & tracking governance: define and enforce naming conventions, UTM taxonomy, QA checklists, and bulk build processes to ensure every campaign launched is trackable and consistent
• Platform integrations & API management: manage connections between marketing tech systems (Marketo, Salesforce, ad platforms) and troubleshoot data discrepancies across the stack
• Launch playbooks & QA framework: build and maintain the launch playbook for new vendors, channels, and tests; own time-to-launch as a core metric and continuously shrink it
• Control Tower & monitoring: own Paid's coverage within our Control Tower alerting suite, publish and follow a QA cadence (daily monitors, monthly tests, quarterly audits), and drive down time-to-detect on data issues
• Reporting & analytics infrastructure: maintain and QA the data pipelines that feed performance dashboards, ensuring campaign, lead, and conversion data is accurate and available for stakeholder reporting
• Audience operations: build, maintain, and refresh CRM-based audience lists for suppression, retargeting, and lookalike seeding across ad platforms
What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)
• 5+ years in marketing operations, ad tech, or marketing analytics
• Experience managing infrastructure for paid spend at $10M+ a year across 3+ ad platforms
• Hands-on experience with offline conversion tracking (Meta CAPI, Google Enhanced Conversions, or equivalent), including sending CRM-stage conversions back to platforms
• Experience with a marketing automation platform (Marketo, HubSpot, or similar)
• Experience with CRM systems and lead routing logic (Salesforce or equivalent)
• Experience managing data pipelines and integrations via Hightouch or similar ETL tools
• Strong UTM governance and tracking QA across multi-channel paid campaigns
• Track record operating as an embedded technical partner to a Paid/growth team — driving requirements proactively rather than waiting on tickets
• Ability to troubleshoot data discrepancies and communicate findings to cross-functional stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail and a bias toward process and documentation
• A sense of humor
Special Sauce* (nice to haves)
• Owned a cost efficiency metric as part of your function
• Part of the team or led the move to value-based bidding with measurable CAC or pipeline impact
• Experience working within
