About the role
NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our NIC Firmware team and help shape how firmware is built using AI. You will be part of a team rethinking firmware development from the ground up, applying AI and automation to create smarter, faster, and more scalable infrastructure for NVIDIA’s next-generation network adapters and SuperNICs. These devices power the world’s largest AI factories and data centers, and the infrastructure you build will speed up how we design, validate, and deliver them. We are looking for a creative problem solver who questions how things have always been done, sees opportunities others miss, and enjoys turning bold ideas into practical solutions. You will work at the intersection of low-level firmware, networking hardware, and AI, alongside talented engineers across firmware, software, architecture, and AI teams.
What you’ll be doing:
• Design and build AI-driven infrastructure, tools, and workflows that change how firmware for next-generation network adapters is developed, validated, and released
• Identify bottlenecks in the firmware development lifecycle and solve them with creative, unconventional approaches using AI, LLM-based agents, and intelligent automation
• Explore and prototype new ideas quickly, evaluate what works, and turn successful concepts into robust solutions adopted across teams
• Apply deep firmware and system knowledge to make sure AI-driven solutions are grounded in the real behavior of low-level hardware and software
• Collaborate with firmware, software, architecture, and AI teams to define new methodologies and set the technical direction for AI adoption in firmware engineering
• Act as a technical leader and influence engineering culture by sharing knowledge, challenging assumptions, and inspiring others to think differently
What we need to see:
• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in firmware, embedded, or low-level software development
• Strong programming skills in C/C++
• Solid understanding of HW/SW interfaces and low-level system behavior
• A track record of solving complex technical problems in creative, original ways
• Curiosity, independence, and a passion for exploring new technologies and ideas
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
• Hands-on experience applying AI or LLMs to engineering workflows, such as agents, code generation, or intelligent automation
• Experience building tools, frameworks, or development infrastructure
• Background in networking, such as RDMA, InfiniBand, or Ethernet
• Experience driving innovation or introducing new methodologies across engineering teams
