US H-1B: cap-subject employers enter a lottery weighted by wage level — Level I gets 1 entry, Level IV gets 4 (DHS projected selection odds ≈15% at Level I to ≈61% at Level IV). Universities and non-profit research employers are cap-exempt. The $100,000 fee for new petitions from abroad is currently blocked by a court order (appeal pending).

About the role
The Senior Manager Finance owns budgeting and financial analysis to support the CFO and budget holders in business decision-making. The role also oversees day-to-day finance operations, financial controls and external reporting, and provides line management and guidance to a finance colleague.
Driving automation and process improvement is a central part of the role, using digital tools and AI where appropriate to streamline workflows, automate reporting and reduce manual work. Initially focused on finance, this remit may expand to other processes across GRI in the longer term.
Responsibilities
Delivery
• Own and deliver the budgeting, forecasting and financial planning cycle, providing the CFO with robust analysis, scenario modelling, automated dashboards and clear recommendations, while automating data collection and reporting to reduce manual effort and support business decision-making.
• Lead process improvement and automation across finance, using digital tools and AI where appropriate to reduce manual work and improve accuracy, timeliness and efficiency, and extend this to other administrative processes across the organization in the longer term.
• Maintain strong financial controls, building automated checks and workflows where possible, and, with support from the finance and grant management teams, manage external reporting including consolidated financial statements (under IFRS for SMEs), tax reporting and donor financial reporting.
• Provide line management, guidance and development to a finance colleague, overseeing day-to-day finance operations (including payments, reconciliations and month-end close) and coaching them to streamline and automate routine tasks.
Engagement
• Act as a finance business partner to budget holders, providing insight into performance, challenging assumptions and supporting informed resource allocation.
• Support the CFO in liaising with external partners, including auditors and banks, coordinating information requests and ensuring timely follow-up.
• Communicate financial insights clearly to non-financial colleagues and support adoption of new reporting tools and processes.
Requirements
Work experience
• Holds a degree in Finance (Diploma, Master’s, or higher), preferably complemented by a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Brings over 5 years of relevant experience in a similar senior financial role.
• Demonstrable experience delivering finance process improvements, automation and reporting tools within budgeting, close and reporting cycles. NGO or grant-funded experience is an advantage, not a requirement.
• Proven experience providing line management and guidance to a finance colleague and overseeing day-to-day finance operations, including reviewing transactions and reconciliations and ensuring timely, accurate month-end close and financial reporting. Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting and maintaining robust financial controls.
