US H-1B: cap-subject employers enter a lottery weighted by wage level — Level I gets 1 entry, Level IV gets 4 (DHS projected selection odds ≈15% at Level I to ≈61% at Level IV). Universities and non-profit research employers are cap-exempt. The $100,000 fee for new petitions from abroad is currently blocked by a court order (appeal pending).

About the role
Role: Staff Engineer (Integrations / Supply, air travel)
Company: Voyagu
Location: Fully remote, Europe preferred. European time zone; about two hours of difference is fine. About eight hours online, and some overlap with US time zones helps because many users are there.
Job Type: Full-time. Contract model is flexible: contractor, payroll provider or direct employment.
About Voyagu
Voyagu builds one platform that runs several travel businesses. Today the focus is air travel. The platform covers client management (CRM), ERP modules for finance and accounting, travel operations, and integrations with travel supply systems.
The model is offline travel: agencies that sell through people. Voyagu does not sell the software and does not plan to, but agencies work with it in different models. It is a bootstrap scaleup, so teams are lean and money is counted.
Development leans heavily on AI. Teams of AI agents run big features under a business operator and a technical operator. Sometimes this turns two half-years of work into two weeks. It does not always work. When code is cheap, product vision and architecture become the bottleneck, and that is where you come in.
This role owns the integrations and supply direction. Air travel alone is deep: every airline has its own distribution channels and APIs. You would lead one of five platform development streams and report to the CTO. There is no product manager in between, and you work directly with the founder and other business stakeholders. The team has no one with your profile today, so you would be the first.
What you are expected to do
Technical ownership
• Lead the integrations and supply direction as its technical owner.
• Build integrations with GDS systems. Voyagu works with one today and needs more.
• Connect airline direct APIs and non-GDS protocols across multiple sources.
• Handle servicing after sale: changes, cancellations, refunds, and group bookings split into parts.
• Work with live, real-time availability. Seat availability does not depend on price.
• Prevent costly errors. One missed booking can mean tens of thousands of dollars. Design for reliability, for example with idempotency, so nothing is paid or bought twice.
• Keep the solution sized to Voyagu’s scale and avoid over-design. This is not internet-scale work.
• Keep the system stable. Speed and error rate are the measures.
Vision and delivery
• Shape the technical vision with stakeholders and defend it. They will challenge it.
• Expect no ready-made tasks. Business stakeholders give you a direction, not a finished task.
• Turn the agreed platform capabilities into features and give estimates. Several dozen capabilities are written down, such as search and booking.
• Success means Voyagu accepts your estimates and you deliver them, or come close. Part of the plan will be agreed together with you.
AI-driven development
• Build and direct teams of AI coding agents instead of writing code by hand.
• Explain and defend how to use AI effectively.
• Bring AI practices that are as good as Voyagu’s, or better.
Team
• Lead the two people already working in this direction, once you have onboarded.
• Hire as little as possible. Hiring is a last resort. Long term the direction may grow to one to three people.
What you need to succeed
• You have worked in the travel domain, especially on integrations with supply systems. About two or more years is likely enough.
• You understand booking versus ticket, and the statuses and states of each.
• You have owned a large piece of a product, not a small slice.
• You work at staff or senior level, as architect and technical lead.
• You understand what Voyagu does and why, and you talk well with stakeholders.
• You use AI well beyond the beginner level and have a cle
