About the role
Focus Area 1: Zero-Touch MVNO Onboarding
Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) depend on different network and IT systems to launch and manage their mobile services. You will investigate how MVNO onboarding can be made simpler, faster and more automated. You will analyse the current process, identify manual activities and dependencies, and explore opportunities to automate parts of the onboarding journey.
You may work on:
• Mapping the current MVNO onboarding process.
• Identifying manual steps, dependencies, and bottlenecks.
• Understanding interactions between Mobile Core and supporting IT and network systems.
• Exploring automation opportunities using APIs and workflow automation.
• Developing recommendations and, where feasible, a small proof of concept.
Focus Area 2: 5G Network Slicing for Enterprise Services
5G Network Slicing creates opportunities to provide differentiated mobile connectivity services for enterprise customers. You will investigate how 5G Network Slicing could support future enterprise services at KPN. You will explore suitable use cases and analyse what is needed to order, provision, operate and monitor these services.
You may work on:
• Researching enterprise use cases for 5G Network Slicing.
• Identifying and prioritizing promising use cases.
• Understanding requirements across RAN, transport, 5G Core and supporting IT systems.
• Investigating how network slices could be ordered, provisioned, monitored and managed.
• Identifying gaps between current and future capabilities.
• Developing recommendations for future implementation.
The final assignment and scope will be defined together with your KPN coach, based on your interests, study background and the opportunities within the Mobile Core domain.
Regardless of the selected focus area, during your internship you will:
• Collaborate with experienced Mobile Core architects and experts to analyse a real technical and business challenge.
• Gather stakeholder input and translate your findings into a clear, structured analysis.
• Develop practical recommendations and/or a proof of concept, and present your findings to KPN stakeholders.

• Basic understanding of mobile networks, 4G/5G or networking technologies.
• Interested in areas such as automation, APIs, cloud technologies or telecom architecture.
• Able to analyse and structure information independently, collaborate effectively with technical experts, and communicate and present findings.
• You reside in the Netherlands.
• You are available for at least 32 hours per week for a minimum of 5 months.
Knowledge of 5G Core, Network Slicing, APIs, Python or automation technologies is an advantage, but not a requirement.
What can you expect from KPN?
• A monthly internship allowance of €600 based on full-time participation.
• Opportunities to engage in activities and collaborate with fellow interns and colleagues.
• The potential for employment at KPN upon successful completion of the internship.
