About the role

Your Mission: As a Senior Battery Management System (BMS) Hardware Engineer (all genders), you will own the development of safety-critical electronics for the Microliner’s propulsion battery system. You will design compact, high-density mixed-signal hardware that accurately monitors, controls and protects large lithium-ion battery assemblies during charging, ground operation and flight. This is a hands-on role covering the complete hardware lifecycle: requirements, architecture, circuit design, prototype bring-up, verification, qualification, production release and certification evidence. Working closely with BMS software, battery systems, safety, PCB layout, mechanical integration, thermal systems, testing and manufacturing, you will turn the propulsion battery’s safety and control concepts into flight-ready, certifiable electronic hardware.   Your Day-to-Day: • Own the architecture and detailed design of battery management units, cell-monitoring electronics and associated sensing, communication and protection circuits. • Translate system, interface and safety requirements into complete, traceable and verifiable hardware requirements. • Design accurate measurement circuits for cell voltage, temperature, pack voltage, current and other battery sensors. • Develop high-density mixed-signal electronics incorporating battery-monitoring AFEs, balancing circuits, microcontrollers, watchdogs, memory, isolated communications and power supplies. • Define the PCB architecture and layout constraints for multilayer HDI assemblies, including fine-pitch components, microvias, grounding, signal and power integrity, EMC, thermal management, creepage and clearance. • Perform circuit simulation, tolerance analysis, worst-case circuit analysis, component derating, FMEA/FMECA and reliability assessment. • Work with Systems and Safety Engineering to implement fault detection, diagnostic coverage, independence and safe-state behaviour in accordance with the allocated Design Assurance Level. • Develop and maintain DO-254/ED-80 lifecycle evidence, including hardware requirements, design data, traceability, verification results, review records and problem reports. • Lead prototype bring-up, debugging, integration and fault-injection testing using cell simulators and flight-representative hardware. • Support DO-160G environmental and EMC qualification, DO-311A battery-system testing and transfer into repeatable production through DFM, DFT and manufacturing-test development. • Collaborate closely with BMS software, battery systems, PCB layout, mechanical, thermal, testing, manufacturing and certification teams. • Lead hardware design reviews, resolve test and production failures and mentor less-experienced engineers.   Your Profile: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field. • Seven or more years of experience developing complex electronic hardware from architecture through verification and production release. • Proven experience with BMS hardware, battery-monitoring electronics or comparable high-channel-count, safety-critical mixed-signal systems. • Strong expertise in precision analogue measurement, ADC signal chains, filtering, current and voltage sensing, galvanic isolation and fault-tolerant power supplies. • Demonstrable experience designing high-density multilayer electronics, including HDI technology, fine-pitch BGA/QFN devices, microvias, power distribution, grounding and thermal constraints. • Strong digital-hardware knowledge involving microcontrollers, memories, watchdogs, CAN/CAN FD, SPI, I²C and isolated serial interfaces. • Hands-on experience developing airborne electronic hardware under DO-254/ED-80 is essential. Experience at DAL B or DAL A and supporting form
