About the role

Your Mission: As Senior High-Voltage Electrical Design Engineer (all genders) you will lead the electrical design of the battery packs, power distribution units (PDUs), and junction box of the propulsion battery system for VÆRIDION's CS-23 all-electric aircraft. You will own everything electrical on and within these units, from cell interconnections and busbars to protection and safety devices, internal HV and LV wiring, and the HV power and LV communication connector interfaces. Through electrical modelling and analysis, you will close the design before it moves to test and provide the engineering evidence that the propulsion battery system is electrically safe, robust, and certifiable. Within the Airborne Electronics team, you will collaborate with Electronic Hardware Design and Power Electronics, and work closely with the Electrical Systems Architect and the HV Electrical Systems, Mechanical Design & Integration, Thermal Systems, Cell Technology, Safety, and Certification teams to ensure that the design of each unit is fully aligned with the propulsion battery system and the aircraft electrical system. Your work will directly contribute to the propulsion battery system that underpins VÆRIDION's mission to bring electric flight to regional aviation.   Your Day-to-Day: • Lead the electrical/electrothermal design of HV equipment for an 800 V class propulsion battery system, covering topology, segregation, protection, isolation, precharge, and safe disconnection within each unit. • Align the electrical design of each unit with the propulsion battery system and the aircraft electrical system, working closely with the HV Electrical Systems team and the Electrical Systems Architect. • Design cell interconnections and busbars as well as develop the cell connection system together with the Mechanical Design & Integration team. • Specify and select protection and safety devices, including contactors, fuses, pyrofuses, precharge components, current sensors, manual service disconnects, and the HV interlock loop, working with Airborne Electronics colleagues where solid-state power controllers (SSPCs) are used. • Define the HV power and LV communication connector interfaces of each unit together with the HV Electrical Systems team. • Lead or support component specification, selection, and supplier engagement depending on the component, together with the responsible teams. • Develop or assist with electrical models of the full battery pack to close the design before testing, and support propulsion battery system modeling of performance and failure cases together with the HV Electrical Systems team. • Perform electrical/electrothermal analyses, including short-circuit and fault current, protection coordination, insulation coordination, creepage and clearance, partial discharge at altitude, voltage drop, and Joule losses as input to the Thermal Systems team. • Own the grounding, bonding, shielding, and EMC design within each unit. • Define the physical layout and routing of electrical components together with the Mechanical Design & Integration team. • Perform safety analyses such as FMEA for each unit or support the Safety team in system-level safety assessments. • Draft test requirements (TRQs) for electrical verification, independently or together with the respective teams as required. • Create and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams, requirements, and interface definitions under configuration control, and contribute to design reviews and certification evidence.   Your Profile: • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. • 5+ years of experience in HV electrical design, preferably in aerospace or automotive battery systems, or other safety-critical industries. •
