About the role

Team description: Every new product, market and payment method we launch needs fraud monitoring, transaction controls, chargeback processes and trained teams in place before it goes live, and you'll be the person who makes sure that happens. You'll report to the Head of Risk and Fraud and act as the main link between Risk and Fraud Operations and Product, Engineering, Compliance, Legal, Customer Support, data analytics and external partners such as acquirers and payment schemes. It's a role with real ownership, from managing the full project portfolio to shaping how the team scales through automation, while working on launches like new payment methods in Italy and our expansion into New Zealand. Take a look inside our office: Sofia What you'll do: • Project delivery across risk and operations teams: You have led cross-functional projects involving Fraud Operations, Risk, Product, Engineering, Compliance, and external partners such as card schemes, processors, and vendors. You plan milestones, track dependencies, and escalate blockers early. • Acquiring and fraud domain knowledge: You understand merchant onboarding and monitoring, transaction fraud, chargebacks and disputes, and the card scheme and PSP rules that shape them. Experience in acquiring, payments, or fintech is strongly preferred. • Requirements to implementation: You translate fraud strategy and regulatory needs into clear implementation plans, such as new monitoring rules, scoring model changes, or case-management workflows. You verify that operations, support, and engineering are ready before a launch, including training, runbooks, and rollback plans. • Tooling: You work fluently in Jira or Azure DevOps, Confluence or a similar case tool, and Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. Experience with fraud or risk platforms and BI dashboards is a plus. • Communication and ownership: You write and speak clearly in English, can explain risk trade-offs to non-specialists, and handle pressure well. You take ownership, stay humble and curious, and work in line with SumUp's values. What you'll bring: • Experience managing projects that involve several teams, including Operations, Product, Engineering, Compliance and external partners, with strong planning, dependency tracking and escalation skills. • Good understanding of fraud prevention, transaction monitoring, chargebacks, payment operations or merchant risk, ideally gained in financial services, payments or fintech. • Ability to turn operational needs and risk requirements into clear implementation plans, and to confirm that teams are ready before a launch. • Comfort working with tools such as Jira, Notion or Confluence, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace. • Strong written and spoken English, together with a pragmatic, humble and self motivated approach that fits SumUp's values. Why you should join SumUp: • 🌍 Opportunity to work with SumUppers globally on large-scale fintech products used by millions of businesses worldwide, from our modern Sofia office. This involves an office-first setup • 🌈 Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: be part of a workplace that values and promotes diversity, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone's perspectives are respected and embraced • 🚀 Enrolment onto our Virtual Stock Option programme: you will own a stake in SumUp's future success • 📚 A dedicated annual L&D budget of €2000 and 10 paid days of educational leave which can be used to attend conferences and/or advance your career through further education • 🏖 Generous time off: 25 days of paid leave, plus one extra day per year of service (up to 35), along with public holidays and special leave options • 🏥 Peace of mind: additional health insurance and life insurance • 💪 Stay active: o
