About the Role
Security at Mixpanel is not a "check-the-box" exercise. Our growing team is dedicated to understanding and managing security risks while enabling our engineering and product design partners to continue making world-class software.
Mixpanel's Information Security & Risk Management (ISRM) team is hiring a GRC Specialist to own the day-to-day operations of our GRC function. You'll be the first line of response for customer security requests and third-party risk work, keeping our pipeline moving so senior analysts can focus on risk judgment. This is a growth role with a defined path to GRC Analyst.
Responsibilities
• Customer security questionnaires: Partner with teams across the company to complete customer security questionnaires, and keep stakeholders informed of progress.
• Third-party risk management: Support our third-party risk management program by running vendor intake, gathering and verifying security documentation, and tracking each vendor's status as it moves through review, remediation, and renewal.
• Request management: Serve as the first point of contact for incoming GRC requests, triaging them and escalating items that need deeper review.
• Compliance operations: Follow up with control owners, vendors, and internal teams on open remediation and compliance items until they're closed, and triage alerts from our compliance monitoring platform.
• Content accuracy: Keep the information we share with customers current by flagging outdated or inconsistent content and driving the corrections.
• Automation and improvement: Use AI tools to streamline repetitive GRC workflows, proactively identify improvement opportunities, and document your work so the team can reuse it.
We're Looking For Someone With
• 1-2 years of experience in GRC, security compliance, vendor risk, or a related role
• Hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g. Claude Code, Claude Cowork) to automate repetitive GRC workflows
• Self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable with ambiguity, with the ability to make progress on incomplete requests with little direction, find information (documentation, tooling, internal teams)ask the right follow-up questions, and know when to escalate.
• Sound judgment and initiative, including using autonomy to make decisions within your scope, spotting areas for improvement, proposing solutions, and running with them while escalating larger changes.
• Understanding of risk management processes, including how risks are identified, assessed, and tracked, and how they apply across the third-party lifecycle (due diligence, risk assessment, remediation tracking, and ongoing monitoring)
• Baseline understanding of security systems and processes (e.g., access management, logging, encryption, vulnerability management) and of audit processes and frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001, including how evidence and control testing work
• Ability to understand what a customer is asking in a security request and respond accurately, including interpreting intent behind loosely worded or unfamiliar questions
• Ability to translate audit and compliance requirements into clear, actionable asks for engineering teams
• Motivation to learn and grow with curiosity about security and compliance, and a desire to build a career in the GRC space.
• Comfort with scrutiny, including explaining and defending your work with evidence when customers, vendors, engine
