About the role

About the team: Our AML Operations team acts as SumUp's first line of defence against financial crime, reviewing complex PEP, sanctions and UBO cases to keep bad actors from misusing our platform. Based in our Vilnius office , you'll take ownership of investigations that directly protect the millions of small businesses who trust SumUp with their payments. This role sits in AML Ops, giving an experienced investigator real scope to handle complex cases, mentor newer analysts, and help shape how we screen and monitor risk. What you'll do: • Review and investigate PEP and sanctions alerts, preparing detailed reports for senior management approval • Act as the second-level escalation point for complex PEP and sanctions cases • Review UBO related queries and conduct profile reviews, advising other teams on KYC matters • Assess transaction monitoring alerts for incoming and outgoing payments • Research and document findings to confirm or dismiss suspicions, aligning with stakeholders before sign off • Identify and help implement improvements to KYC operational processes You'll be great for this role if… • Experience handling PEP and sanctions escalations, transaction screening and report compilation • Strong knowledge of financial products, services and applicable AML regulations • Ability to analyse large volumes of data and investigate complex cases with accuracy • Comfort working with tools such as Microsoft Excel and Tableau to support investigations • Fluency in written and spoken English, with a detail oriented and quality focused approach Why you should join SumUp: 🌎 Opportunity to work in a truly global, multicultural team from our cozy Vilnius office in the Quadrum centre, steps from the Old Town and river.
