The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a Senior Global Application Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: • Solving problems related to working and communicating in noisy environments. • Providing global support to 3M’s local, regional, and area application engineers with regards to protective communications products. • Supporting current products and New Product Introductions (NPI), including conducting customer acceptance and field trials, supporting technical documentation and claims substantiation, creating user instructions, and identifying customer needs and communicating feedback to stakeholders. • Providing technical application support for electronic protective communication devices, including troubleshooting, product configuration, user setup, accessory compatibility, firmware/software-related questions, and connectivity issues. • Supporting the United States and Canada sales and marketing organizations to develop and expand the protective communications business in the area. • Collaborating cross functionally to resolve technical issues. • Developing customer support materials and conducting customer training and industry presentations on technologies, selection, and use of protective communication products. • Documenting your work in 3M systems. • Supporting field research studies. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering (completed and verified prior to start). • Five (5) years of experience in roles such as Application Engineering/Technical Service or role supporting, testing, or troubleshooting electronic devices or communication equipment in customer-facing or technical service environments in a private, public, government or military environment. Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: • Master's degree in electrical engineering, acoustical engineering, computer science, information systems or related field from an accredited institution. • Experience in audio, sound, or two-way communication solutions. • Experience using radio DMR/PMR/LMR and Push to Talk Over Cellular devices for critical communication. • Occupational health and safety experience, and/or experience with personal protective equipment in an industrial, public, government, or military environment. • Experience conducting field evaluations, customer trials, product demonstrations, root-cause investigations, and technical training for electronic, communications, or safety products. • Customer-focused self-starter who can effectively work in a fast-paced environment, with an appropriate sense of urgency • Strong international mindset with the ability to work effectively with people from diverse countries and cultures • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills and proficiency with oral and written communications. • Fluent in English.
