About the role
Principal Associate, Risk Management (US Card) Principal Risk Associates at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. These skills allow Principal Risk Associates to gain insights and act as change agents to influence their business partners. As Capital One evolves to meet the ever-changing technology landscape, so do our Risk Associates. A successful Principal Risk Associate operates from a foundation of knowledge about the Line of Business with whom they are working, laws/regulations, and good Risk Management practices. They are forward-thinking, quick to adapt, and technologically adept. The Principal Risk Associate will have a high level of exposure across the Card business and the opportunity to create and implement innovative solutions to appropriately manage risks within the business. Responsibilities: • Lead change control efforts at the process level to ensure impacts are appropriately assessed, documented, and implemented • Facilitate the risk assessment process associated with new/changing intent for multiple Card business areas • Provide risk consulting to one or more business areas relative to their business lines, providing advice and guidance as required • Develop management reporting based on risk assessments • Develop and leverage key relationships with stakeholders that enable collaboration across the enterprise • Ensure process frameworks are delivered within established enterprise standards • Coordinate various process interactions, including meeting logistics, and facilitate collaborative meetings with 1st and 2nd line process participants • Partner with data analysts to iterate and improve upon risk monitoring and reporting • Synthesize data and perform analysis to bring valuable business insights to the Card business • Design, implement, and/or influence internal governance processes • Monitor systems of record for accuracy, quality, and consistency • Provide training to stakeholders as needed • Connect the strategic and operational priorities to the changing risk environment, partnering with risk advisors and the business to understand impacts • Partner with a wide range of internal customers across all levels • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity to question the obvious, explore options, and seek to develop and implement efficiencies and process improvements • Self-manage, prioritize work, and consistently deliver results • Demonstrate strong organizational agility to adapt to changing demands and divergent priorities Here's what we're looking for in an ideal teammate: • An independent and critical thinker who seeks to understand the business, its processes, risks, and control environment • Able to create energy and foster an environment of trust, collaboration, and belonging • Focused relentlessly on quality and timeliness • Adaptable to change, eager to embrace bold ideas, and intellectually curious • Eager to ask questions, test assumptions, and challenge conventional thinking • A builder of influential relationships based upon shared risk objectives • Committed to doing the right thing and leading by example Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree or military experience • At least 2 years of financial services or risk management experience • At least 2 years of project or process management experience • At least 2 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients Preferred Qualifications: • 1+ years of experience facilitating and conducting Risk Assessments • 1+ years of experience developing presentations for senior stakeholders • 3+ years of financial services or risk management experience • 3+ years of project or process management
