About the role

Job Description General Motors is seeking an Senior Engineer to own software integration and system-level verification for the MCU1 platform on the CCU AV Extension Board. This role will integrate MCU1 software with the CCU compute platform, Thor SoCs, Functional Safety Island, IVI, MCU3, IMU, networking, diagnostics, and vehicle-facing services. The engineer will convert requirements and interface specifications into repeatable bench, hardware-in-the-loop, and system test evidence that supports platform releases and vehicle milestones. The role sits at the intersection of MCU software, platform integration, embedded systems, safety, diagnostics, automation, and release engineering. The successful candidate will identify integration defects early, drive issues to closure with development and hardware partners, and provide clear pass/fail or dependency-blocked evidence for release readiness. Required qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience may be considered. • 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software integration, system verification, hardware-software integration, or automotive test engineering. • Hands-on experience testing embedded systems that include microcontrollers, SoCs, sensors, networking, diagnostics, or safety-related functions. • Ability to read and interpret software requirements, interface control documents, hardware-software interface specifications, architecture descriptions, and test results. • Experience developing structured test cases and analyzing failures using logs, traces, diagnostic data, and bench instrumentation. • Programming or scripting experience in Python or a comparable language. • Experience with version control, issue tracking, continuous integration, and software build or release processes. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across software, hardware, systems, safety, and program teams. • Ability to work on-site with lab and vehicle-integration equipment and participate in hands-on bench bring-up, test execution, and issue triage. Preferred qualifications • Experience with automotive embedded platforms, AUTOSAR or GM BSW, RTOS-based systems, QNX, Linux, SafeRTOS, or safety-island architectures. • Experience with MCU'S, Thor SOC, FSI, SPI, Ethernet, SOME/IP, UDS, CAN, I2C, ADC, GPIO, or time-synchronization interfaces. • Experience with MCU bootloaders, secure boot, software update, diagnostic services, DTC/DID/RID validation, key provisioning, or manufacturing tooling. • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop, system benches, Lauterbach, ETAS, Vector tools, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, or network analyzers. • Experience with Robot Framework, Autobot, Jenkins, Xray, Git/GitHub, Jira, Grafana, or comparable automation and evidence systems. • Knowledge of ISO 26262, functional safety, cybersecurity, FMEA, fault injection, code coverage, and automotive quality processes. • Experience supporting vehicle programs, supplier integration, production launch.
