About the role
About the Team Within Finance & Strategy, the General & Administrative (G&A) Finance & Strategy team partners with leaders across DoorDash’s corporate functions to plan resources, track performance, and support investment decisions as the company grows. This role will be the primary finance partner to our Legal organization, including Litigation, Legal Operations, Corporate Legal, and Product Legal, and will help build the consolidated planning and reporting tools our broader team relies on. We expect this role to be primarily based in San Francisco, CA, New York, NY. About the Role We are looking for a Senior Associate to help shape how DoorDash invests in its Legal organization over the long term, while owning the planning, forecasting, and reporting that make those decisions possible. You will partner with Legal leaders to understand what shapes their spend, from outside counsel and litigation matters to headcount and legal technology, and turn that understanding into clear forecasts and investment recommendations. Legal spend can be hard to predict, so success in this role means building trusted relationships, bringing structure to uncertainty, and giving leadership an accurate, early view of risks and opportunities. This role is well suited for someone who wants to move past “what is the budget” to “what is the right level of investment, and how will we know it is working.” You will report into the Director who leads our Global G&A Finance team in our Finance & Strategy organization. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will… • Partner with leaders across Litigation, Legal Operations, Corporate Legal, and Product Legal to shape long term investment decisions, such as when to bring work in house and how to consolidate outside counsel. • Build, define, and track metrics that Legal leadership uses to steer the business, such as outside counsel spend per matter, in house versus outside counsel mix, and Legal cost relative to company growth. • Lead quarterly, annual, and long range planning for the Legal organization, presenting clear recommendations and tradeoffs to Legal and Finance leadership. • Own monthly forecasting, variance analysis, and accrual support for legal spend, including outside counsel, litigation and settlements, headcount, and vendors, in close partnership with Legal Operations and Accounting. • Help own the consolidated forecast for the broader G&A Finance team, and improve the models, planning systems, and AI workflows behind it so recurring work becomes faster and easier to scale. We’re excited about you because… • You have 4+ years of experience in financial planning & analysis or a closely related finance role, where you owned budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and variance analysis with a high bar for accuracy. • You are a trusted business partner and clear communicator who builds relationships with senior, nonfinancial stakeholders and turns complex analysis into concise written summaries and presentations. • You bring structure to ambiguous problems, look past the budget line to the business question behind it, and are comfortable recommending a course of action, not just reporting results. • You have advanced financial modeling skills in Excel or Google Sheets and experience with planning systems or data tools (such as SQL) that you use to automate and scale reporting. • You use AI tools in your work today beyond basic chat (for example, automating a recurring report or building a reusable workflow), and you’re eager to keep learning and adopting new ways of working. Compensation The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualification
