Job Category Underwriting Compensation Overview The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards. Salary Range $161,400.00 - $266,300.00 Target Openings 1 What Is the Opportunity? The Business Insurance Business Centers centrally underwrite and negotiate renewal and new business for eligible accounts across the low to mid-sized range in Business Insurance (BI). As an Underwriting AVP, BI Business Center, you are an integral leader within a Business Center. Using your deep industry expertise, you will lead a team of Business Center leaders to ensure underwriting and sales practices are in alignment with business objectives. Additionally, you will closely partner with leaders across BI on the development and implementation of business strategies. What Will You Do? • Lead and coach a team of underwriting leaders across multiple regions/business units, providing ongoing strategic direction to enhance underwriting and sales effectiveness to achieve business objectives. • Closely partner with BI leadership (field and home office) to craft and implement business strategies over multiple regions/business units, taking ownership of overall results and employee engagement. • Take responsibility for identifying trends in underwriting quality and effectiveness across your organization and empower your underwriting leadership team to enact action plans to address quality issues. • Utilize your advanced industry expertise on the most complex and challenging Collaborative Underwriting Review Evaluations (CUREs)/business issues and leverage learnings to drive improvements in underwriting knowledge and execution across the Business Center. • Oversee distributor engagement across multiple underwriting teams, ensuring that new business, rate, retention, and profit goals are achieved. Engage with sales partners and field underwriting to refine and execute sales processes as well as capitalize upon market opportunities. Address escalated agency concerns, as needed. • In close coordination with BI underwriting leadership, develop and lead various strategic initiatives that span multiple regions and/or business units within the Business Center. • Provide strategic direction and support for a large group of underwriters and underwriting leaders, taking responsibility for sourcing, developing talent, coaching, training, and performance management. • Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? • Ten or more years of property and casualty industry experience, preferably in underwriting. • Six or more years of people management experience. • Strong knowledge of underwriting and agency relationship management. • Strong knowledge of Business Center operations and key financial drivers affecting regional and local office performance. • Ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business goals. • Ability t
