About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work on all aspects of the mechanical design process, including design, analysis, prototyping, and validation of components and systems for DoorDash's next-generation autonomous delivery vehicle.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
• Design detailed components and sub-assemblies for a high-profile delivery robot, with the support of your mentor, manager, and team members.
• Build production-quality 3D CAD models and drawings, and present your work in cross-functional design reviews.
• Collaborate with electrical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to make sure your designs integrate cleanly and can be manufactured, assembled, and serviced at fleet scale.
• Learn how to validate designs through prototype builds, bench testing, and tolerance and structural analysis, and act on feedback
We’re excited about you because…
• You are pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (such as Mechatronics, Robotics, Aerospace, or Automotive Engineering), have no more than 2 years of full-time work experience, and are available for a May or June 2027 start date (internships are only hosted during the summer).
• You have hands-on experience with 3D CAD (such as NX, SolidWorks, or CATIA), preferably NX.
• You have a solid grasp of engineering fundamentals and use first principles, calculations, simulation, and test data to support design decisions.
• You have shown interest in mechanical design through coursework, team projects (such as Formula SAE or robotics clubs), or personal builds.
• You can work independently on assigned design tasks and you want to learn how products are designed, built, and operated at scale.
