Sector Analyst, Japan Consumer & TMT

Third Bridge's Library division delivers investment research to its global institutional investor client base, including managers investing across listed equities, fixed income, private equity, real assets, and other alternatives. The Sector Analyst team within the Library division is responsible for uncovering actionable insights through in-depth conversations with senior executives and industry specialists, driving sector and regional coverage strategy, and engaging with clients to showcase the value of our research. We are looking for a consumer and/or TMT analyst to join our growing team in Tokyo. In this role you will: • Produce in-depth research coverage on the consumer and/or TMT sector in Japan, with additional ad-hoc coverage on relevant private market transactions; • Generate actionable investment ideas, perform initial due diligence and prepare detailed questions lists, and then go deeper into the subject matter by hosting interviews on those topics with industry experts and executives; • Drive discussions with industry specialists, extracting value-added and actionable insight throughout your discussions; • Engage with clients to present your research and foster relationships. Collaborate with our internal account management and sales teams to broaden your reach and build a brand for yourself; • Build relationships with senior industry executives across your areas of coverage; do deep-dives on industries/companies, figure out where specialists have non-consensus views, and build out a pipeline of content A successful candidate will display these personal attributes: • Intellectual Curiosity ; deeply interested in understanding the intersection between financial markets and business fundamentals, interested in building expertise in businesses and market analysis • Strong Relationship Builder ; ability to confidently interact with C-level executives and industry experts, proficient at working both independently and effectively with diverse teams with different perspectives and backgrounds. • Strong Communicator ; excellent written and verbal communication skills, highly logical and structured, and exceptional attention to detail. • Results Driven ; self-starter committed to digging deep into their coverage, a high degree of work ethic, and personal responsibility/ownership for the role Qualifications: • Native command of spoken and written Japanese, and strong English skills. Chinese language skills are advantageous • 1-3yrs of relevant experience in either Japan-focused equity research, private equity dealflow, credit research, management consulting, or investigative (financial) journalism • Proven experience in conducting (equity) research and/or demonstrated ability to conduct fundamental, bottom-up research • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills that would help build rapport when driving your research with experts • Strong team orientation, highly collaborative with proven experience in driving outcomes through teamwork • Allocated sector coverage will be dependent on candidate profile, experience, and team coverage requirements What we offer: • Sustainable work-life balance (vs. traditional sellside/buyside roles), offering analysts market exposure without the burnout • Active market involvement ,
