US H-1B: cap-subject employers enter a lottery weighted by wage level — Level I gets 1 entry, Level IV gets 4 (DHS projected selection odds ≈15% at Level I to ≈61% at Level IV). Universities and non-profit research employers are cap-exempt. The $100,000 fee for new petitions from abroad is currently blocked by a court order (appeal pending).

About the role
Chainguard is the trusted source for open source. By delivering hardened, secure, and production-ready builds of all the open source software engineers and AI agents rely on, Chainguard helps organizations build faster, stay compliant, and eliminate risk.
Our customers include Fortune 500 enterprises and global industry leaders, including Anduril, Canva, Fortinet, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, OpenAI, Snap Inc., and Snowflake.
Chainguard is venture-backed by leading investors, including Amplify, IVP, Kleiner Perkins, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Mantis VC, Redpoint Ventures, Sequoia Capital, and Spark Capital.
The role in a nutshell:
Chainguard is building the secure foundation for software development and deployment. Our Governance & Trust team makes sure the security practices behind that mission are effective, measurable, and worthy of our customers' trust.
We're hiring a senior practitioner to lead the compliance and trust side of that team. You'll run the execution of our external examinations (SOC 2, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, and a growing set of sector and regional certifications), own how we respond to customer security diligence, and run third-party risk operations. You'll lead the compliance and trust side of the team, which includes a public-sector compliance analyst and two customer-facing security analysts, with formal management of that group expected as the team grows.
This is not a checklist compliance role. Our operating model treats policies and controls as code, draws evidence from systems of record rather than screenshots, and uses AI agents for first-pass questionnaire responses and vendor triage. You'll be the person who decides what those systems need to produce, judges whether what they produce is right, and stands behind it with an auditor or a customer.
What you’ll do:
• Run the execution of Chainguard's external examinations end to end: the evidence calendar, population and completeness-and-accuracy requests, sample fulfilment, auditor status calls, and readiness assessment ahead of each cycle. Work with the Head of Governance & Trust on scope, control applicability, and auditor negotiation.
• Build and keep the working relationships with People, IT, Infrastructure, Engineering, Legal, and Sales that evidence, populations, and remediation depend on. Compliance and trust at Chainguard runs across most of the company, and the function should not be chasing other teams for what it needs.
• Own customer security diligence: security questionnaires, customer audits, Trust Center content, and the multi-round assessments that regulated customers run. Set turnaround expectations with Sales that the team can meet, and decide what we will and won't provide.
• Own the third-party risk management program: vendor intake and tiering, assessments, dispositions, and the register of critical suppliers and their agreements.
• Act as product owner for the customer-facing side of our agent platform: define what the questionnaire responder and vendor triage agents must do, maintain the validated answer bank they draw on, and judge whether their output is good enough to send. Stay current on how other companies handle diligence and response automation, and bring in better approaches when they exist.
• Turn recurring patterns across questionnaires, audits, and vendor reviews into standing artifacts, self-serve packages, and control improvements, so the same question is answered once.
• Work from a single unified controls catalog across frameworks, and push mapping and implementation defects back to the governance side rather than maintaining framework-specific lists.
• Produce findings and remediation evidence that survive external re-test, and feed the corrective-action process with root causes rather than symp
