US H-1B: cap-subject employers enter a lottery weighted by wage level — Level I gets 1 entry, Level IV gets 4 (DHS projected selection odds ≈15% at Level I to ≈61% at Level IV). Universities and non-profit research employers are cap-exempt. The $100,000 fee for new petitions from abroad is currently blocked by a court order (appeal pending).

About Anthropic
Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
What is the need and role
Anthropic's mission depends on compute, and compute depends on power. Today, energy is increasingly the binding constraint on how fast frontier AI infrastructure comes online. The energy team sources, structures, and contracts that power, and its work touches nearly every part of the company and a growing set of people outside it.
We're looking for someone to join the energy team in a special projects role: to take on the problems that don't sit inside any one deal or region, and to carry them wherever they lead. That means working in three circles. Inside Compute, with the teams that site, design, build, finance, and operate our data centers. Across Anthropic, with policy, legal, communications, finance, and the other teams that need energy depth or whose work shapes ours. And outside the company, with FERC, state commissions and agencies, RTOs and ISOs, utilities, industry working groups, and other large energy customers.
It's a "figure it out / get it done" role for someone who can chase down issues while bringing real depth in energy: the kind of person who can untangle a power delivery problem with design and delivery in the morning, brief the policy team on what a FERC proceeding means for our sites in the afternoon, speak for us on a working group call the next day, and then pick up an unrelated problem the energy team needs solved that week. Much of the job is building coalitions among complex, multi-functional groups of stakeholders, and then running the project all the way to completion.
What you'll do
1/ Inside Compute
• Working with the head of energy, pick up cross-functional problems as they arise that have no natural owner, work them with the teams involved to a decision, process, or tool, then hand them off and move on to the next one.
• Connect the energy commercial leads with site selection, data center design, delivery, operations, and finance, so that everyone plans on the same assumptions about power: when it arrives, how much, how reliable, and at what cost.
• Write the strategy documents, decision memos, and leadership updates that explain the energy team's choices to executives who do not work in energy.
• Build the processes and tools, with Claude, that keep the team's commitments, open decisions, and stakeholder record current, so none of it depends on one person's memory.
• Run the team's planning rhythm: priorities, headcount plan, consultant roster, and follow-up on open decisions.
2/ Across Anthropic
• Be the energy team's first point of contact for policy, legal, communications, community relations, finance, and other teams, and make sure their questions get a fast, accurate answer from the right person.
• Serve as an energy subject matter expert for the policy team and work with them on the company's positions on energy issues.
• Give communications and community relations plain answers on what a site's power supply means for local rates, reliability, and emissions.
• Keep what we sign and what we say in public consistent with each other and with Anthropic's ratepayer-protection commitment.
