About the role

Your Role As an SEM Technician (f/m/d), you will support tools and process qualifications and help investigate issues arising across our semiconductor process flow. Working closely with our Failure Analysis Engineer, Process Integration team and other engineering functions, you will perform Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis and complementary characterization using techniques such as Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX) and Focused Ion Beam (FIB). Ideally you come with a first-hand experience working with SEM. You will initially work alongside our SEM experts to deepen your knowledge learn the tool’s operating principles, procedures and inspection requirements for our specific use cases. Through hands-on training and continuous knowledge transfer, you will build your skills in sample handling, imaging, measurement and troubleshooting; before gradually becoming an independent SEM user and taking greater ownership of the tool and the processes. As the function develops, there may also be opportunities to operate additional defect-inspection tools and support defect analysis and yield improvement within our 300 mm manufacturing facility. What You’ll Do • Prepare, handle and inspect a wide range of semiconductor samples according to defined analysis requirements • Perform accurate and reliable SEM analysis to support tool qualification, process qualification and root-cause investigations • Use complementary characterization techniques, including EDX and FIB, where required • Work closely with Failure Analysis, Process Integration and engineering teams to understand inspection requirements and communicate results effectively across functions • Maintain accurate records of incoming sample lots, expected outcomes, reporting deadlines and priorities • Perform daily, weekly and monthly tool-health checks, calibration and routine performance monitoring • Troubleshoot tool and measurement issues and coordinate with equipment vendors to maintain tool availability • Maintain an accurate inventory of consumables and spare parts required for reliable SEM operation • Standardize measurement procedures and reporting methods to ensure consistent and repeatable results • Document operating procedures and best practices and, over time, support the training of additional SEM operators • Support the operation of additional defect-inspection tools and contribute to defect analysis and yield-improvement activities as the team grows What You Bring • Technical training or a bachelor’s or master’s degree in physics, chemistry, engineering, materials science or a related field • Previous hands-on experience operating SEM systems • Experience with FIB and EDX is highly desirable • An understanding of sample preparation, imaging, measurement and basic failure-analysis methods • Previous experience working in a semiconductor cleanroom is an advantage • Willingness and ability to spend extended periods working in a cleanroom while wearing the required PPE • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work carefully and consistently with sensitive samples and equipment • A structured approach to documentation, sample tracking and task prioritization • Confidence working in a dynamic environment with interconnected technical dependencies and changing priorities • Good communication skills in English, with a reliable, open and honest approach to working with stakeholders • Willingness to learn, take increasing ownership and support tasks beyond your immediate scope when needed Our work culture People Over Processes.
