A Day in the Life The Senior Buyer/Planner is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted supply of direct materials required for manufacturing operations while optimizing inventory, supplier performance, and cost. This position serves as the key link between Supply Chain Planning, Sourcing, Operations, Quality, Engineering, and external suppliers to balance customer service, inventory investment, and operational efficiency. The role develops and executes purchasing and supply plans, manages supplier commitments, drives resolution of supply risks, and leads continuous improvement initiatives that support Medtronic's mission, quality standards, and operational objectives. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. • Sources, purchases, plans, and schedules the movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, services, supplies, finished goods, and related material through production and inventory process. • Identifies raw material, component, and related requirements from engineering and production specifications and schedules. • In front-end procurement mode, analyzes data and determines factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. • Coordinates and follows up with production, warehouse, and engineering personnel to ensure appropriate procurement, scheduling, and movement of materials and services. • Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes. • May monitor performance of suppliers and collaborate on demand analysis planning. Experience: • 5+ years of experience in supply chain planning, purchasing, procurement, materials management, or inventory management. • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, BPCS, or equivalent. • Experience managing suppliers and purchase orders in a manufacturing environment. • Experience with MRP/ERP planning systems. Technical Skills: • Advanced Excel skills. • Proficiency with SAP and planning tools. • Experience with inventory analytics, forecasting, and supply planning. • Knowledge of planning systems such as Blue Yonder, Kinaxis, RapidResponse, or similar platforms. • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Preferred Qualifications • APICS CPIM, CSCP, or CPSM certification. • Lean Six Sigma certification. • Medical device, healthcare, or regulated manufacturing experience. • Experience supporting global supply chains and international suppliers. • Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence tools SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: Typically an individual contributor with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty.
